Improving Health Through Weekly Meal Planning

Free PCOS diet planI started this blog to share my stories and hopefully help a few people in the process. I have been diagnosed with PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, and Nightmare Disorder. At the moment, doctors are trying to figure out if I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) on top of the others. I have the symptoms and my blood work is pointing in that direction but I haven’t been officially diagnosed with it. I’m constantly researching ways to make myself feel better, or make life easier for me. I read blogs, medical research, reviews, and books to find information. Some things help and a lot don’t change anything or sometimes exacerbate the symptoms.

PCOS Symptom ReliefI’ve been supplementing with vitamins and trying to get rest but today was a rough day for me. I’ve been considering improving my diet even more lately. I eat fairly healthy currently but I’m disorganized when it comes to planning meals, so I spent a good part of my day looking up diets that can help alleviate PCOS symptoms. All the free info I could find looked just as disorganized as me so I decided to purchase a diet plan. After reviewing a few different websites, which included examples of the recipes in their plan, I ended up buying an omnivore diet plan nd I will work around the few recipes that might not please me. I’m not a big red meat person, and I don’t like seafood barely at all. One site looked like it had red meat for a lot of the recipes and originally I was looking for a vegetarian diet plan. The few I found were Vegan and it’s hard for me to go that extreme, especially when trying to feed my whole family because we love cheese.

After reviewing the weekly plan, I made a list of ingredients I didn’t already have on hand. Then headed out to Costco, hoping they would have most of what I was looking for. The Costco closest to me actually had a pretty good selection and I was able to pick up a few items that I don’t normally purchase. Almond flour, coconut flour, organic chicken breasts. I put away my groceries when I got home, not ready to prepare much yet. A few of the recipes have chicken in them so I decided to cook a bunch of chicken tonight, served some for dinner, and packaged up 2 wide mouth mason jars with chicken ready to go for future meals. If you want to know how I prepared and cooked the chicken, see my next post.
